PRAYER FOR AMERICA
Dear heavenly Father,
Thank you
for loving to hear our prayers. Remind
us to talk to you often, especially when we don’t feel like praying. That’s the
way it seems now, Lord. The daily news
reports not only evil actions, but people calling evil “good.” We realize our sinful attitudes—hating a
person, for example—is as condemnable as murder. Thank you for forgiving me
because of your perfect Son’s perfect life, sacrificial death and victorious
resurrection.
America
needs miracles, Lord. Only the Holy
Spirit can pry open the stone hearts of citizens and leaders that have rejected
your truths. Remind everyone in our
country that the Ten Commandments were given for a protective purpose. Each
person, born sinful, needs guidance and wisdom to know what is best for their
body, mind and soul, as well as for living together in a family and
society. Our Creator knows our needs
best. Where else can we turn to know how to live? Turn more people to hear and
learn your word. That is the only policy change that will succeed.
Make us
thankful for all your provisions: sunrise and sunset, seedtime and harvest,
food, clothes, homes, jobs, and all good relationships. When life is disrupted
by bad news, destructive weather, sickness, crime and hate, draw broken hearts
closer to you.
Give us patience and an attitude of service. Help me to wait and look for opportunities to speak up, vote, and otherwise politely but assertively share your truths.
“God bless
America” is an off-used quote to finish political speeches. With this prayer we
ask that Jesus Christ, the only Savior, blesses America in mighty and obvious
ways. In his powerful name we pray. AMEN
